Karmayogi Puraskar for 25 years

An annual event that honors the extraordinary and significant contributions of those who have served selflessly to uplift the underprivileged.

Bombay Medical Aid Foundation has been awarding the Karmayogi Puraskar to dedicated persons who have worked tirelessly and selflessly to ease suffering and to ensure better healthcare to an ailing humanity.

Karmayogi Puraskar was spontaneously started by Swami Ram Baba who was the patron saint of the Foundation.  At a fund raising program held at Birla Hall, he presented the 1st Karmayogi Puraskar to Dr. Dev Saksena for his humanitarian achievements and service. 

Dr. Prakash Baba Amte & Dr. Mandakini Amte - The Bombay Medical Aid Foundation was honored to present the 23rd Karmayogi Puraskar to them both, on the 24th day of March, 2019.

Dr. Prakash Baba Amte, MS. (General Surgery) and his wife Dr. Mandakini Amte, MBBS.,PG Diploma (Anaesthesia), have both dedicated their lives for the upliftment of the tribal people of Himalkasa in the Gadchiroli District of Maharashtra since 1973. They have inherited the rich legacy from their illustrious and noble parents,

They started the Lok Biradari Prakalp, a project for the development of the tribal people, This project gradually grew into a hospital named Lok Biradari Prakalp Davakhana which now provides health care to over 40,000 individuals annually.

Prof (Dr.) Ram Prasad Sengupta

Founder and Director of the Institute of Neurosciences in Kolkata and formerly a Senior Consultant of Neurosurgery at the Newcastle General Hospital in the United Kingdom. He is internationally acclaimed for his contribution in the field of neuroscience and for his humanitarian work. Dr. Sengupta has more than 1000 aneurysm surgeries to his credit apart from several brain tumors and revascularization surgeries. He has single-handedly built a unique one specialty hospital for Neurosciences in Kolkata

Dr. Anita Maria Borges

Dr. Anita Maria Borges is an outstanding Onco-Pathologist of International repute. She served the country’s largest Cancer Center-The Tata Memorial Center in Mumbai as Professor of Pathology for two decades. Currently, she heads the Pathology division at the SRL Diagnostic Center and the Asian Institute of Oncology in Mumbai. Her main area of interest is the Pathology of Head and Neck Cancers, the commonest cancer in the country. Her expertise lies in solving the diagnostic dilemmas in cancer histopathology

Padma Bhushan Dr. Farokh Erach Udwadia

Dr. Farokh Udwadia is an erudite scholar, a brilliant teacher, an inspiring role model for generations of medical students. Dr. Udwadia, Consultant Physician and Consultant-in-Charge of the Intensive Care Unit at Breach Candy Hospital has raised the standards of medical care significantly. His experience in tetanus, pulmonary eosinophilia and treating medical emergencies culminated in the writing of the ground breaking monograms which are reference books on the subjects.

Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty an internationally renowned cardiac surgeon is the chairman of Narayana Health, Bangalore. He has leveraged economies of scale to provide affordable healthcare. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan, third highest civilian award in India for his contribution to the field of affordable healthcare. He is the first in India to perform heart surgeries on new born babies using Micro Chip Camera. He is also the first in the world to coin the term Micro Health Insurance
